Concur is bought for control rather than experience. For a large organisation with real travel spend, multiple entities and a policy that has to be enforced rather than suggested, it does a job that lighter tools genuinely cannot: policy validation, approval hierarchies, tax reclaim and an audit trail that survives scrutiny. Employees rarely enjoy it, the interface shows its age, and pricing is entirely opaque, typically structured per expense report or per active user with implementation fees on top. Below enterprise scale, card-led competitors now deliver most of the benefit with a fraction of the friction.
