Microsoft 365 business pricing starts at $7.00 per user a month on Business Basic and reaches $32.00 on Business Premium with Copilot, all paid yearly. There are five published business plans and no free tier. The gap between the cheapest and the dearest is where nearly all of the confusion sits, because two of the five do not include what most buyers assume they do.

What each business plan costs

- Business Basic, $7.00 - web and mobile apps, business email, 1 TB OneDrive, Teams
- Apps for business, $10.00 - desktop apps only, with no hosted business email
- Business Standard without Teams, $20.30 - the EU competition variant, rarely advertised
- Business Standard with Copilot, $23.50 - desktop apps, webinars and Copilot
- Business Premium with Copilot, $32.00 - adds Intune device management and Defender
The two plans that catch people out
Neither is a trap, exactly. Both are priced as though they were the obvious entry point, and neither does the job most buyers have in mind.
- Business Basic at $7.00 has no desktop Office. Word and Excel are web and mobile only, which is the single most common surprise on this price list.
- Apps for business at $10.00 is the mirror image: desktop Word and Excel, but no hosted business email at all. Buying it to replace Exchange does not work.
- Getting both desktop apps and business email means Business Standard, which is $23.50 with Copilot. That is the tier most businesses actually land on, at more than three times Basic.
What the annual commitment means
- Every figure above is the annual-payment rate. Monthly payment is offered at a higher rate.
- Business Basic at $7.00 a month is $84.00 per user a year, so ten users is $840.00.
- Business Standard with Copilot is $282.00 per user a year, or $2,820.00 for ten users.
- The trial is one month on the Business plans. There is no free tier at any seat count.
Enterprise pricing is not published
The E3 and E5 enterprise tiers carry no public figure. Microsoft quotes them, and in practice they are negotiated inside a wider agreement alongside Azure and Dynamics, so list price is the starting point rather than the outcome. If your organisation is already a substantial Microsoft customer, the published business prices above are not the numbers you will pay.
