What Typeform costs beyond the advertised price

Each of these is a figure you can check on the vendor's own page. The arithmetic is shown so you can redo it rather than take our word for it.

  1. Charged on top of a plan$300 a year

Contacts & Automations add-on is charged on top of a plan rather than instead of one: $25 a month, which is $300 a year on top of whichever tier you hold.

    Working$25 a month x 12 = $300 a year, added to a tier price rather than replacing it.

Computed from the plan table on Typeform pricing , read 18 August 2026

  2. Monthly billing costs more$132 a year

The advertised $28 on Basic is the annual-payment rate. Paying monthly is $39, so the commitment is worth $132 a year.

    Working$39 - $28 = $11 a month, x 12 = $132 a year.

Computed from the plan table on Typeform pricing , read 18 August 2026

Fixed mechanics above add $432 a year to the advertised price. Usage-dependent charges are listed but not summed, because a figure that depends on how much you use cannot be added to one that does not.

What Typeform actually costs over a year

A monthly price is not the same thing as a monthly contract. These are the plans above resolved both ways, per seat or unit where the plan is charged that way. Where a vendor quotes only a yearly figure it is divided by twelve rather than left out, and the Quoted column says which figure the vendor actually publishes.

Which Typeform plan should you buy?

Recommended Typeform plan by situation
Your situationRecommendedWhy

Verdict by who you are

  • Marketer capturing leadsYes

Higher completion rates are a measurable effect, and for lead capture that difference is the whole return.

  • Brand where form presentation mattersYes

Branding control on paid tiers is genuinely good, and the forms feel considered.

  • Researcher needing volumeNo

Response allowances are low relative to price. A campaign can exhaust Basic's 100 responses in an afternoon.

  • Team running internal pollsNo

Google Forms is free and adequate for this.

Should you buy Typeform?

Buy Typeform if…

  • Customer-facing forms where completion rate matters
  • Lead capture and qualification with branching logic
  • Research surveys where brand presentation matters

Do not buy Typeform if…

  • High-volume survey research on a budget
  • Internal polls, where free tools are sufficient
  • Teams needing many responses per month

What leaving Typeform would cost

5/10 Lock-in

moderate lock-in

Typeform scores on public API. Portability 5/10 ; lock-in is the inverse. How this is calculated.

Two prices for every plan, and the page shows one

Every Typeform tier has a yearly rate and a monthly one, and the difference is large: Basic is $28 a month billed yearly or $39 billed monthly, Plus $56 against $79, Business $91 against $129. That is roughly a 29% premium for paying month by month, at the upper end of what we see across this catalogue. The prices above are the yearly rates, with the monthly figure recorded beside each.

Typeform also localises pricing by visitor region. A browser in the EU is shown euros, and our first capture recorded those. The figures here were read from the page as it is served in the United States, which is the currency this catalogue records. Check the price in your own region before budgeting; the plan structure and the response allowances are the same either way.

Responses, not seats, decide the tier

Basic includes 100 responses a month. Plus includes 1,000. Business includes 10,000. A single promoted lead-capture form can pass 100 in an afternoon, at which point collection stops or costs more.

This is the most common Typeform billing surprise. Estimate monthly response volume at your busiest expected point, not your average, and price from there.

The Free plan is not on the pricing page

Typeform’s pricing page shows five paid cards: Basic, Plus, Business and Growth Flow, with Talent set apart above them. There is no Free column. The plan still exists, and the page confirms it indirectly by noting that the Contacts and Automations add-on is “available on all plans except Free and Basic”, but its limits are not published where you would look for them. If you intend to rely on the free tier, verify what it includes inside the product rather than from the pricing page.

Two costs that sit outside the plan ladder

Contacts and Automations is a paid add-on: $25 a month for 2,400 actions, $75 for 12,000, or custom above that, billed on top of your plan and unavailable on Free and Basic. Talent, a separate plan for HR teams, is $119 a month billed yearly and sits above the main cards rather than among them, so it is easy to miss if you are comparing the four you were shown.

Neither appears in the headline comparison. Both change the real monthly figure.

Why the format actually works

Presenting one question at a time reduces the perceived effort of a form. The respondent never sees fifteen fields and decides against it; they answer one thing, then another. Combined with logic jumps that skip irrelevant questions, the result is fewer abandoned forms. This is a genuine, measurable effect rather than a design preference, and it is what you are paying for.

Where cheaper tools have caught up

Tally and several others now offer the same one-question-per-screen model with far more generous free tiers. Typeform retains an edge in polish, branding control and integrations, but the gap is narrower than the price difference implies. If your volume is high and your brand requirements modest, look at the alternatives properly before committing annually. For research where you need to buy respondents, SurveyMonkey remains the better tool.
